Super Six: Top summer UK races

Whatever your interest or ability, there is certainly a diverse mix of events all over the country. But which is the one for you?

We asked our good friends at findarace.com, the UK’s biggest listing of running, cycling and triathlon events, for their must-do races over the summer months. From swimming in the capital to running across the Cumbrian fells, to bouncing on space hoppers through tunnels of foam, it’s all on offer this summer!

Suunto Great London Swim - 1 July 2017

Newham, London

There’s still time to enter London’s biggest open water swimming event. 5 event distances are on offer, ranging from half a mile to 10k. An ideal event both for those taking the plunge for the first time and for seasoned open water swimmers.

Breca Buttermere - 29 July 2017

Lake District

Swimrun is the UK’s fastest growing endurance sport. In teams of two, participants take on a course made up of a series of consecutive swimming and running legs across often remote but scenic landscapes. For those trying swimrun for the first time, Breca Buttermere is ideal as there’s a more accessible Sprint distance event that is 20km in total, made up of 17km of running and 3km of open water swimming.

The Maverick Inov-8 Original 1 - 9 August 2017

Lancashire

The Maverick trail series has quickly established a loyal following across southern England and now heads north, to the Forest of Bowland, Lancashire. Expect a stiff challenge but with beautiful surroundings to take your mind off your aching legs. Three distances available; 8km, 14km and 21km.

Parallel London - 3 September 2017

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London

The world’s first fully accessible fun run and family festival. Event distances are 10k, 5k, 1k and 100m. The day also includes a Super Sensory 1km full of multi-sensory experiences, from sound and smell to textures and colour. The event celebrates difference and encourages people of all abilities to get active and take part with friends, family and colleagues.

Reebok Ragnar White Cliffs - 23/24 September 2017

Maidstone, Kent

The Ragnar is a 170 mile relay race along the Kent coastline, from Maidstone to Brighton. Teams of 10 take turns to run legs varying in distance from 3 to 11 miles, making it accessible to most runners with a little training. Whilst each runner takes their turn on the road, the rest of the team jump into their support van to eat, rest and cheer! Running through day and night, the event ends with the whole team crossing the line together before enjoying a well deserved finish line party.

Colour Obstacle Rush - Various dates

Bath, Sheffield, Liverpool and Exeter

A 5k with 20 obstacles, 8 colour stations, 20 music zones and foam. Lots of foam. Run, walk or dance your way along a course filled with inflatable slides, bouncy castles, space hoppers, water balloon fights and a few surprises being kept under wraps until the day.
