Behind the Brand: ALALA

Meet Denise Lee, the creator and founder of NYC-based ALALA, which creates fashion-forward activewear pieces designed to move with you from morning to night.

Q What's special about Alala?

Alala is an activewear brand with a sophisticated downtown attitude. We add a layer of fashionality to our line that a lot of other brands don't have, but we successfully mix it with amazing performance fabrics and construction as well. So you don't only look amazing working out in Alala, you feel amazing too.

QWhat are you excited about in 2016?

We are really excited to share our product with more people around the world. We have some new projects in the works that are really cool and have some amazing new retailers on board with us this year as well [editor's note: waving hand emoji!]

QIf Alala were a person, what would she be up to on the weekend?

She'd be hanging out with her friends and family on Friday night and enjoying a few glasses of wine and dessert. She might sleep in on Saturday but still make it to her favorite fitness studio for a mid afternoon class. She'd spend some time checking out a cool new gallery or boutique and on Sunday she'd take some time to catch up on work and reading before spending the evening cooking dinner with her loved ones.

QWhat are Alala designs inspired by?

Alala designs are inspired by the lifestyle of our NYC woman. She's on the go from morning to evening and wants her clothes to look and perform great, no matter the occasion.

QWhat's your favourite way to sweat?
I'm currently obsessed with boxing - I go to a studio called Shadowbox here in NY where you get to throw punches at a bag for 45 minutes and its great. We are also doing Kayla Itsines's BBG workout as a team at the office twice a week which is really tough but so much fun as well.
QFavourite recovery food?
I love eggs so that's what I usually eat after my morning workouts.
QBest way to retox?

A weekend trip to Miami is probably my favourite way to indulge!
